Silly English Weather

Sometimes I think it would be nice to live somewhere where the weather is predictable, where the sun shone all day, but then I think, how boring that would be?  Yesterday was an almost perfect example of silly English weather.

When we woke up in the morning, everywhere was wet and soggy, because it had rained in the night. It was a bit chilly, but not freezing cold.

While we were eating breakfast, it started to snow! Not that little silly type of snow which is wet, like slush falling from the sky, but proper big snowflakes, falling down straight, as there was no wind. If the ground hadn’t been so wet, everything would have turned white! It looked like serious snow.

That lasted for about twenty minutes, and then it stopped as quickly as it had started.

After Mom went to work, it started getting windy until it was almost blowing a gale! By mid morning, the trees were swishing about and my gate was rattling. It was not nice at all.

I always stay indoors when it is that windy, where it is safe!

But by lunchtime, the wind had died down and the sun came out! I think it was because all the clouds had been blown away! The afternoon was sunny, I saw one brave, (silly) man walk by my house in shorts. I think he was a little bit optimistic, after all it was only the second of March, but you get the drift. If you looked out of the window you would have said it was a lovely summers day!

As the sun went down, just as Mom got home from work, it suddenly got very cold again. Then it rained for a while. In one day we had had a full years worth of weather.

If you live in California, or in the Arctic circle, I imagine you would say it was a crazy day, but here in England we are kind of used to it, it makes life interesting.

As Forrest Gump would say, English weather is like a box of chocolates, you never quite know what you will get.
